Towards Norton Ferris from White Sheet Down, Wiltshire with Long Knoll on the horizon - ID: XT2171783-02

The view of the landscape from White Sheet Down is spectacular. Not far from Stourhead – which was my destination – reveals a network of fertile arable fields with Long Knoll as the background.

Long Knoll (alternatively Longknoll) is a Marilyn which is defined as a mountain or hill in the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland or Isle of Man with a prominence of at least 150 metres, regardless of absolute height or other merit.

There are other knolls nearby such as Zeals Knoll and Little Knoll.

This photograph was taken as two shots using my Fuji X-T2 camera with the XF 16-55mm f2.8 R LM WR lens. I used a Gitzo tripod – first aligning the horizon so the two shots would merge well in Lightroom afterwards.

I found that the format of the merged file coincided with the cinema 21:9 aspect ratio or Anamorphic widescreen. Click on the image in order to see a larger version on your screen.
