Having a look at photographs previously taken but perhaps left on the computer drive and thereafter neglected can be a worthwhile exercise. Yesterday I started looking at some shots taken in Normandy during a visit there during May 2011. Amongst them was a photograph taken of a flock of curlews in flight.
Using Adobe Lightroom alone, a monochrome version has been produced from the RAW file which has has both the background and the foreground excluded by being rendered white giving the image a high key rendering.
On the web it doesn’t look very impressive but a print on Somerset Enhanced Velvet finish archival paper looks good – well to my eye anyway.
Taken with a Canon 5D Mk2 and a Canon EF 200mm f/2.8 L II USM lens, 1/500th second at f/8

Can web images ever rival a good print?
There is enough here of the subtle reflections to show the promise of this image …
