On Wednesday I drove to Lulworth Cove and left the car there, walking up a footpath that led to the east end of St Oswald’s Bay. The light was very clear, with great views along the Jurassic Coast.

After walking along the beach and foreshore to Man O’War Bay I arrived at Durdle Door with its famous arch as the sun was descending over Portland on the horizon. January is the best month to see this sight.

I took several photographs of the sun shining through the arch and variations on that. One of the photographs is shown here; others can be viewed on my web site.

This photograph was taken using a Canon 5D Mk2 using a Canon EF16-35mm f/2.8L II USM lens at 16mm, 1/50th second at f/11
